Christmas at the Laboratory!Sorry for the long delay since last entry. Halloween, visits from relatives, a trip to Asia for the Diabolical Mistress, and leadership training at the 9 to 5. (Little do they realize it's just helping me prepare for world domination!)Christmas is around the corner and the lights have gone up. Trying to talk the Mistress into nuclear green lights didn't go well. "Let's make our home glow as if we were conducting radioactive experiments! The green could pulse slowly, brighter and dimmer, back and forth! Wouldn't that be fun for Christmas!" Instead we put up white plastic lighted snowflakes and a lighted net only designed to catch a hedge or bush. We wired them to the outside portal (porch) lights to make it more convenient to power them on or off. Something I came up with last year and am rather proud of. Of course, what would playing with lights be without the occasional shock. Shortly followed by "How do I get you to the car when your unconscious?" coming from the Mistress of witty comments herself. The biggest news (and what is taking more time out of my day) is that the D. M. and I have taken up a new project. We decided to do an experiment in duo-cloning. Oh, it's easy to cloning a single living being. The world is quickly filling with sheep, mice, cattle, etc. that are exact duplicates of the originals. We going one step further. We combining genetic material from cells from my body with genetic material from cells from my Mistress's body. We decided to use our because we already have a dog and three cats. We don't need any more cats or dogs. (However, a cat/dog did cross our minds. The cartoon has already come out, though. Therefore not really an original idea.) This clone has already begun to form and is in it's incubation stage. Consultation with experts in this field and our computers project the finished date to be in July of 2008. Looking forward to it and will keep you updated as things develop. posted by Greasycog 12/4/07 Clean Up - Making Space In The LabTo prepare for upcoming projects and potential hurricane visitation (not to mention, it was a rainy day), the last day off the 9-5 was spent cleaning the lab. It’s tough for someone like me, a self proclaimed packrat, to throw stuff away, especially if it may have a use and/or was hard to get. Out went the gears and some electronics scrounged from old printers, copiers, and miscellaneous small electronics. The trash cans were emptied and old boxes tossed.more... posted by Greasycog 09/24/07 Project #2.2 - Air Quality Control ContinuesWith concern for the air quality of the laboratory, my diabolical Mistress has demanded something be done.more... posted by Greasycog 09/18/07 Transportation - Every genius needs to get from here to there.I have been interested in human-powered vehicles (HPV's) for a while. In my hometown, transportation was automobile or if longer distances was needed, we took an aeroplane. It was weird hearing of someone with regular transportation anything but having four wheels and a gasoline engine. Yet having lived through a time in my life where an auto was not an option, I still desired my independence. The lowly roller blades and bicycle stepped in. Since then, I recognize the bicycle as one of the last remaining vehicles we can own, service, maintain, and potentially build or modify ourselves with very little investment in tools or even space.more... posted by Greasycog 09/11/07 Project #3 - The Infamous Cat WheelA mad scientist always has speed bumps slowing his progress in all his projects. Very seldom does a project go smoothly from start to finish. (on a budget)Finding inspiration for future projects is not hard as long as you look in the right places. I was reading my latest issue of Make magazine. A great deal of this issue is dedicated to the ever humble bicycle. As a future dictator, I have long recognize the usefulness of a device such as the bicycle (which is why I bought this issue).more... posted by Greasycog 09/05/07 Project #2 - Pheline Waste Disposal Odor Control Device 2.0 - completedHaving pets inside your domicile has its drawbacks. With the use of optics in the form of lenses and mirrors, I hope to build a device capable of using the light from the sun to melt metal and glass. With that kind of power, I can use this tool to weld and forge new creations. Photos will come soon.more... posted by Greasycog 08/22/07 |
